We had a Medicare patient in one of our OP clinics who needed a flu shot in April. The pharmacy was out of the adult dose of Fluzone, but still had several child doses (which are exactly 1/2 the adult dose) left. The patient was therefore given 2 of the child doses of Fluzone. What would be the best way to code this?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

I should probably also ask, is this even billable? Or should we just write this off with the knowledge that we did what was correct for patient care purposes?

Thanks again!
