I am a fairly new CPC and work at a university student health clinic. Our MD's do procedures in clinic such as sutures, skin biopsies, colposcopy, colposcopy with biopsy, etc. Would follow-up visits for these types of procedures be covered as global. If so, is 99024 is appropriate or would that be used for inpatient procedures? I appreciate any insight.

Thanks,
Allison

You can go to medicare website to see if those procedure codes have a global period. If they do then you will not be able to charge for a f/u office if the office visit is for the f/u of the surgery.
