I work in peds. We had a patient come in this weekend b/c someone had stuck a stick through his cast. It did not break the skin. He had to sent to the ER to have another cast placed. What Dx should I use? :confused:

Hello Tia,

Did you decide on a code after all?

I think my choice would have been one of the V54.1 series for Aftercare of healing fracture and E920.9 (unspec cutting or piercing instrument).

I also work in Peds, but haven't seen a case like this one.
