The patient had a drill bit removed from his distal fibula. I am thinking of CTP code 27610. I am also conflicted about the ICD 10 code. S90.552A is for superficial foreign body of the ankle but this really isn't superficial. Any suggestions?

Is this a current injury so you could code S91.022A laceration w/ foreign body or S91.042A for puncture wound w/ foreign body? Also, was the foreign body removed from the bone itself? I'd recommend posting the documentation to see if there is a more appropriate code, but 27610 would mean going into the joint.

Distal Fibula foreign body

The drill bit tip was imbedded in the fibula. The surgeon dissected down and used pliers to pull the bit out under fluoro guidance. The incision was irrigated and closed in a simple fashion. And thank you for the dx code. The puncture wound w/ foreign body makes sense
