There seems to be some conflict in my billing department regarding the number of FB removals you can bill. We had a patient that came in to our Occupations Medicine practice who shot himself with a nail gun, the ONE nail went through his index and middle finger. The way I understand the procedure is we can only bill for ONE FB Removal as only one foreign body was removed. We can bill for 2 debridements and 2 fractures as these are separate sites and digits but as there was only ONE FB we can only bill the code once. Another biller in my office says we can bill the FB Removal twice as the nail was through 2 fingers. Who is right?
