Hello,

Can FQHCs bill for Telehealth for Medicaid patients? I know according to Medicare guidelines we are not authorized to provide distant site services. And because we are located in a Metropolitan area we cannot bill for an originating site. I found a very outdated unclear guideline for Medicaid but I would like confirmation.

if you do not meet the qualifications for the originating site and your providers are not authorized for the distant site provider then there is you answer. Just to be clear the distant site provider must be one of the following provider types not a facility:
* physician
* nurse practitioner
* Physician assistant
* nurse-midwife
* clinical nurse specialist
* certified registered nurse anesthetist
* clinical psychologist
* clinical social worker
* registered dietitian
* nutrition professional
Perhaps you have providers that do qualify for the distant site provider.
