We had a patient that was seen for fracture of humerous. The fracture was treated and patient was placed in a sling. After further review and radiologist input there also appeared to be a posterior shoulder dislocation. The patient was brought back into the OR on the same day and the shoulder was reduced. Can I bill for the fracture treatment and the dislocation treatment?
 
I would. At the time of the initial visit you had not idea the patient would need to be brought to the O.R. for the shoulder dislocation. Just use appropriate modifiers on the shoulder dislocation.
