What are the guidelines regarding fracture care? I have an Ortho DR. that dropped a fx care code for a distal fibula fracture. He has seen pt twice since the initial visit and now he see's a healing distal tibia fracture, same ankle. Can we bill another fracture care for this?
 
You can bill the fx code only once for the initial treatment of an acute fx. after that all visits are followup using the V54.x code for healing fx. and the 99024 for the follow up for 90 days. If there is a complication that necessitates a new procedure then it might be billable depending on the documentation.
