Hello,

My question is if we coded a fracture care and the patient was put into a cast and on the next visit they decided to do surgery do we code for the office visit?

Fracture Care to Surgery

Was surgical intervention planned at the time of applying the cast? If so, you would append Modifier 58 to the surgery.

If this was not a "planned" decision for surgery, append modifier 78 to the surgery.

Either way, you can still bill for the office visit!
