What code would be used for a free visit? The attending did not come in today, and 21 patients were seen by residents only. How could this be coded/billed/documented?

There is no way to bill out the visits without the attending provider. You need to check with your state regulatory agency and see if it is legal for residents to attend to patients when there is no credentialed provider in the house.
