I would like some direction in how to obtain information to support a question that a Plastic Surgeon at our facility is questioning.
Physician is asking when he does a frozen section and gets report from pathologist and if necessary needs to reexcise and repairs with a flap closure is he able to bill for the frozen section? It has been my understanding that because it is under the same operating session and is a flap closure , we can only bill the flap repair, is this correct?

You are correct. Excisions of lesions whether benign or malignant should not billed along with the adjacent transfer codes. However, you may bill for wound prep if performed along with the flap codes.
