Due to the aggresive nature of a malignant melanoma with 2 previous surgeries to achieve clear margins our general surgeon took the patient to the OR and sent the series of excisions to path as a frozen section until he got clear margins. I do not believe that it is approprate to bill each individual excisons until this was accomplished, I believe it would be appropriate to bill the largest radical resection of the melanoma and put a 22 on the procedure being how large the excision ended up being --(from just below his elbow crease to the wrist) Any advice/ articals to assist in this would be much appreciated.
