Wiki frustration with office staff

Blow her away with information

Print out your references and resources showing her the correct coding. Give her something in writing that she cannot argue with. Be sure they are legitimate coding sources.

Medicare is a great resource to give her assurance that this is the correct way to do it.

I would suggest that failure of resources and knowledge is to have an external audit. The reason is for the benefit of the physician not getting into trouble. The practice should have some type of compliance plan in place and if not this would be the first step in compliance with a baseline audit of 20-30 charts per provider.

Agreed. Find someone external to the practice and let him/her make an assessment of the coding quality. Rather than approaching this as a, "she's not been doing it correctly" item, just suggest that both of you might benefit from having that level of expertise around.

Be mindful of the party you tap for conducting the audit. There are lots of people out there that are auditor in ego, but little else.

Best of luck to you.
