Hi there, looking for some advice/answers regarding billing with the G89 pain codes out of an outpatient physical therapy clinic. I understand the basic guidelines for the G89 codes; when they should be listed first as opposed to second.. Just wondering if it is a billable ICD-10 code coming from a PT office. I haven't seen it used yet, just looking for some clarification on that before I send anything out. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

It just depends on the reason for the PT. if the reason is to provide pain relief then yes use the G89 codes. If the purpose is restorative/rehabilitative treatment and pain relief is a natural component of the treatment then no you would not use the G89 codes.
