My Doc performed a "String Test" in the office and asked me to bill it. For those who don't know what this is, a Gastro-Test "String Test" is a simple test to find out the patients esophageal pH as well as a screen for Gastric Bleeding. the patient Swallows a small gelatin capsule that has a string attached. The doc waits a moment and pulls the capsule out using the string. He places the string out on a table and uses a pH indicator stick to test.

So, can anyone shed some light on how to code this? Also, can someone come up with the HCPCS code for the testing kit?

I am following this thread. I have just started to code GI. So, I am not familiar with how to bill this service.
