I do the billing for a gastroenterologist. During a recent office visit, the doctor mentioned in his dictation that the patient has hypertension, so I included the diagnosis code of I10 on her claim. Would you guys have also included G8752 or
G8754? He didn't specify anything about her current blood pressure being elevated during the visit, just that she has hypertension.

The blood pressure was taken by the person who roomed her. Since it's populated into her office visit (without him documenting anything himself), the G codes should still be used?

yes, we can use the G codes if the BP measurements are documented, regardless of it is documented by the gastroenterologist or others. In this case, the hypertenstion is documented by the gastroenterologist, which insists that he has referered the documented BP readings. Hope this helps!
