I have a pediatric charge on a newborn that states +GBS would I code that to 041.02 or
V02.51

If you are sure that the baby is diagnosed with group b strep, and the documentation isn't about the mom being a carrier then u can put the 041.02

If the doctors suspect that a baby has group B strep infection, they will take a sample of the baby's sterile body fluids, such as blood or spinal fluid. Group B strep disease is diagnosed when the bacteria are grown from cultures of those fluids.
