96040 for genetic counseling requires that the time spent is 16-30 minutes to claim one unit, if a genetic counselor spends only 15 minutes with the patient in counseling is it within guidelines to then use the 99401 or does the genetic counselor have to use the code specific to genetic counseling, this is genetic counseling for oncology patients?
