Has anybody dealt with the GET tax in Hawaii and do you have a list of insurance companies that allow the tax code S9999 to be billed on claims?

I'm hoping you already got your answer, but in case you didn't... The Hawaii General Excise Tax (GET) is in lieu of a sales tax that applies to many businesses in the state. It is charged by county and the rates differ by zip code. Some counties do not charge a GET. For Workers' Compensation there are explicit regulations that allow providers to bill for these taxes, under the official medical fee schedule. The GET applies to other payers as well, I just don't have the citation. There is a bill in the state legislature (HB 2542) to exempt primary care services from this regulation, that was submitted in February 2020.
