Wiki Getting Involved With Neurosurgery

I was curious if anyone had any useful resources for someone preparing to get involved in coding a Neurosurgery practice.

Up to this point, I have only been actively coding Radiology procedures, and I am looking to prepare myself to take on this new practice in a few months.

I would suggest attending an AANS course, if your providers will allow you to and pay for this. Karen Zupko Associates also has coders that specialize in Neurosurgery and can provid training or coding support. I would also suggest purchasing the 2012 Ingenix Neurosurgery/Neurology coding companion, I use this book daily. It provides a more comprehensive explanation of Neurosurgery cpt codes and also lists NCCI edits and coding tips.
