Can a 78 modifier be appended to a procedure with a 90 day global period
(64772) that has been rendered after a procedure with no global days (64493)?
 
Why would you need to if there is no global period? The purpose of the modifier 78 is when a complication arises within a global period that relates to the first procedure as it takes out payment for the preop and postop care.

This modifier reduces payment by 50%, don't use it if it is NOT necessary!
