Wiki Global E/M in postop period

A patient had major surgery with 90 day global period. One month later, was admitted as inpatient for unrelated Dx to the major surgery. Modifier -24 was billed appropriately on all IP E/M codes. Insurance carrier states that because it was a "major" surgery, modifier -24 is not correct, that this is for 10 day global minor procedures only. Is this correct, as this is the only applicable global modifier for an E/M code.
 
Your carrier is mistaken .. check to be sure you did not mistakenly apply the 25. Otherwise they have a mistake in the edits... you will need to appeal.
