I'm trying to determine how billing for E/M services during the global period works when the physician works for two organizations.
Example:
Physician works part time for a hospital (Organization A) and part time for a clinic (Organization B). The two organizations have no affiliation with one another. The physician performs a surgery with a 90 day global period while on call for Organization A and it is billed under Organization A's tax ID. That patient is then seen by Organization B for a routine post op office visit during the global period. Can Organization B reimbursed for this visit?
I know Organization B would not be able to bill a new patient E/M, but I'm struggling to find an answer as to whether the same principle applies to global periods.
