We had a patient in our office and did a I&D of abcess due to cellulitis on 4/11-then on 4/13 the patient was admitted to the hospital for 2 days for the same reason due the abcess and complications of the I&D-there was no procdures done- IV tx- the insurance company is stating that the hosp visits made by our docs are part of global to the I&D- is there a modifier to use? Its Monday and my brain is fried (to hot!!!) so thanx for any help :)
 
If the complication was due to the I&D and it was within 10 days, it sounds like they are right, it would be included in the global period.
