According to ICD-10 mapping, both gonorrhea and chlamydia screening should be coded to Z11.3. However, in the ICD-10 book, chlamydia is assigned to code Z11.8, and gonorrhea is not specified. Can anyone help me determine which codes are correct? Thanks in advance!

You really shouldn't be coding from the GEMS (although in this case GEMS are correct)

Index is key.

Screening (for) > gonorrhea = Z11.3
Screening (for)> chlamydial Diseases = Z11.8 - Encounter for screening for other infectious and parasitic diseases\

Why? I have no idea

Thank you! Although, in this case the GEMS are not correct since nothing regarding the code Z11.8 are mentioned.
So my understanding is that the ICD-10 book always supersedes what a document published by AAPC or CMS says.
