There does not seem to be a code for a guiaic test done in the office for colon cancer screen. 82270 sounds like the patient is sent home with cards, and 82272 states "performed for other than colorectal neoplasm screening"
When the sample is collected by the physician and test performed in the office what code do you use? Our doctor just recently started doing these and I have no clue how to bill for it.

Hi, I read an article on the guiac test when performed in the doctor office. The office can bill using 82270 since the doctor performs the test using digital rectal exam(DRE) and this counts as one determination. Be reminded though there are players which bundle the test with E/M service. I want you to read the article by just typing "internal medicine coding alert" in your search engin.
