My doctor came in on Monday this week and said we are closing the office this Friday. Rumors today are that he is in trouble due to coding issues. I am a certified coder however my position with this doctor was just billing and insurance follow up. I have never coded a single code for him. My concern is since I am a coder will I be guilty just by being his biller?
 
It just depends on whether you knew the codes were incorrect. Such as if you had to correct claims due to incorrect codes, or you observed that documentation did not support the codes. This type of knowledge could put you at risk.
