When is it ok to take a specialist copay vs PCP copay.

If your specialty is OB/GYN, then I would say collect the specialist copay amount. Insurance will process it based on their qualifications regardless of what you collect or don't. If they leave the patient a lesser amount you refund them or apply it to any other balances they owe.

I have a perinatalogist, obviously a specialists, but sometimes the insurance takes no copay out at all. We just refund in that case.
