When the flu shot (90658 and 90471) and the H1N1 (90663 and 90470) are billed at the same visit for non medicare there is a CCI edit that comes up that indicates that the codes are mutually exclusive procedures. When you view the CCI list; it says that a modifier is allowed. However i have heard that some comercial insurance companys do not follow the CCI edits. my question..would you add the modifier 59 or not.
