Can I get some help please? The Dr stated pt is a hepatitis C carrier for 10 years. Do I code for Hep C 070.54 and the V code for Carrier Status V02.62. Or just Hep C?

I had a case similar to this one. One of our doctor's explained that being a carrier does not mean developing the disease. In other word you can't be in remission of something you never had. If the doctor only documented carrier with no other documentation indicated that the pt rec'd tx in the past or anything about remission then I'd code the v02.62.
