Hi everyone, have kind of an odd question. We have a patient who is 6 wks out from great toe fusion and was having a problem with the hardware. Our doctor took him to the OR, removed the original screw and replaced it with a new one...how would I code this? 20680 for the removal but what about for placing the new screw? Or is there a code for both...? Any suggestions?

I used the unlisted code one time for this on an ankle and got paid by BCBS. (I just checked it to make sure.)

Yeah I would also use unlisted code only.

BUT what are you comparing the unlisted code to?? That is the question that I have.
