I am new to coding, but was wondering...is HCC considered profee coding?
 
Not necessarily. HCC is a method of coding and is performed in the office, outpatient and/or inpatient (facility) setting. I would say that it is historically more of a facility coding skill; in most outpatient and inpatient facility coding, the capture of chronic conditions that effect the treatment during the stay have always been captured, whereas in the pro-fee world, only the diagnosis codes reporting today's treated conditions were reported.
