Hi all!
We are having a discussion in my office about appropriate use of HCPCS codes, specifically the H codes. Do H codes have to be related to Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Services / Rehabilitative Services? Since this is what the HCPCS book says in the H code description, this is what I believe. However, some of my teammates think they don't have to be related to that specifically. They're looking at H2000 "Comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation" and want to use this in a situation where a patient is having a mental health issue such as anxiety or depression. Patient meets with our medical provider first and then a behavioral health provider steps into the room to talk to the patient, then afterwards the BH and MD meet and discuss. Also, they're looking at H0031 "Mental health assessment, by non-physician" for the BH service as well. I do not think these are applicable since they're not related to alcohol or drug abuse treatment services. What do you all think?
