Hello,

I need help with sequencing. I understand that E codes cannot be listed first , and that they should be coded last. However, I'm now learning how to code outpatient hospital situations; so, I'm using the ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes and the HCPCS level I (CPT) codes together.

So, as I'm coding, should I code all the ICD-9-CM codes together, including the E codes at the end? Afterwards, should I code all the CPT level I codes ?

For example: diagnosis code(s), E code(s), CPT level I code(s)

Sincerely,

Nique :)

Diagnosis codes are separate from the HCPC codes on the claim so they will never collide with each other so you list your dx codes with the E codes last in the dx code section then you list your HCPC codes in order of the most intensive procedure in the HCPC code section.
