Our APRN is billing 93297 & 93299 with POS "Outpatient Hospital" Location: HF & Coumadin Clinic
93297 is being paid.
93299 is being denied for CO58 (POS invalid/inappropriate)

Any advice or suggestions?

Thank you,

Sabrina Fox, CPC, CCA

93299 is a technical component only code. If this is performed in a hospital setting, it should be billed by the facility and not by the provider since the hospital would be responsible for the equipment.
93297 is for the professional component and would be appropriate to be billed by the APRN if that provider is doing the interpretation and report and it is within the scope of practice.

We use those codes together for remote interrogation of loop recorders. Our patients submit from home. Is the practitioner actually performing the interrogation? I would use an "in person" code if that's the case.
