My Doc performed a Bilateral Cephalic Cutdown Procedure. - Unsucessful Central Venous Access (Not Able to get good blood return & catheter had to be removed) What is the proper procedure code, modifiers and also ICD9 code
I am not sure and would appreciate any help - I asked on the general sx forum and did not get any response Thanks in advance for your help!
 
36565-36566 (w/ or w/out port) will give you the CVA code and maybe a 53 modifier since the procedure had to be aborted. I'm just not sure if this meets the criteria for the 53 since it states after anesthesia has been administered. Does local count? What do others think?
