During a robotic assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy, our provider was asked to evaluate the right ureter out of concern for possible involvement during the dissection. The robot was docked and the uterus had been removed. I identified the ureter where it crossed over the iliac vessels on the right side and excised the posterior peritoneum overlying it. What cpt code would be used for this?
 
It sounds as if this exploration of the ureter was performed via laparoscopy/robotics.
There is no specific code for this procedure. Therefore, I would suggest the ureter unlisted code, 50949, and bench mark to 50600-52.
