There is confusion in coding for wound repair and distinguishing between simple and intermediate repair.
Please look into below procedure description and confirm if this is simple or intermedicate repair. Also help me to understand the difference between these two repair codes.
'Preparation area cleaned, prepped, and draped using sterile technique, Wound infiltrated with 2% Lidocaine 1cc. The wound edges were revised using tissue scissors and the edges were undermined. The wound was then closed with 5-0 nylon sutures #3 interrupted sutures. Pt tolerated the procedure well. A bandage was placed and pt was given Krames on wound care and laceration. ER precautions given. RTC 9-10 days for suture removal'.
Confirm if the code should be 12041 or 12001.
