I am wondering what would be the appropriate dx code to use for a 6 week old that has breast-milk jaudice. When I search for the code I am guided to P59.3. I was under the impression this is used only for 28 days and younger. This developed at 5 weeks of age. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Narrend
Id check out one of these dx blocks of R63.30 & P59.3 there is not Excludes 1 Rule. You could use dx adverse effect of hormones from mother T38.905A too . I hope this data helps you.
More info below just a FYI ...... What is the difference between kernicterus and jaundice?
Kernicterus is a complication of severe jaundice dx P57. It happens when a waste product collects in your child's blood and brain tissue. Sixty percent of infants experience yellowing of their skin and eyes during the first few weeks of life. Severe complications are rare, but can be life-threatening.
