I have recently started coding for IP Pulm....my question...when 36571, PICC, is performed, it has a 10 day global. What modifier or code do you use for IP EM visits and other procedures done during that time for instance a bronch?
Thanks so much for your hlep....I feel like an idiot!

For anything realted to the PICC line after the initial insertion you cannot bill an E&M as it is included with the global package. For records keeping we used 99024 which doesnt go to insurance but kept track of provider visits.
The initial E&M/consult visit on the same day of surgery you can see if modifier 25 is justified. For procedured after the PICC line look at modifier 78 or 79 if related or complication you would use 78 if unrelated you can use 79.Hope this helps
Chris
