Wiki Help-Packing change

A patient came to office to have sutures removed and packing changed. Patient was out of town when the injury happened and initial care was administered (8 days ago). Is suture removal and packing change included in the global period? Can I bill for this being original procedure was done in quite a distance away? How do I code for this?? I am lost...

The global period would only apply to the provider/provider group who placed the sutures. You should bill an E/M for the appropriate level of care provided, unless (and 99.99% sure this didn't happen) the original physician billed with -54 modifier and transferred care to your physician.
