I do coding for an ASC in southern NJ. Can someone tell the easiest way to get an updated list of Medicare LCD's for pain management? RF injections are being denied for LCD's. The CMS website is very difficult to navigate through. Any suggestions?
 
Pain management

Medicare has packaged all the pain management add-on codes for example 64484. You are no longer supposed to report them. They are only paying on the primary code for example 64483. All other add-on code have been packaged also and will not be paid separately.
To find an LCD go to www.wpsmedicare.com >choose your area/MAC >go to the Policies tab> go to Active/Final Policies>choose Local Coverage Determinations. If you know the LCD # hit Control "F" a box in the upper left corner will pop up and you can type in the LCD you are looking for and it will go to that LCD and you choose your state. OR you can just scroll down the list until you find the topic and then choose your state. Also you can call the CMS customer service line and if you are nice they usually will help you find what you are looking for. Good Luck!
