The physician did a MOH's panel of 9 specimans which result in him coding 17313 and 17315 (4). Do I enter the charge are 4 different specimans or can 17315 only be charged 1 time with a modifer. The dx code is 173.5

Specimens = Blocks
Since codes are described "up to 5", I would code:

17313
17315 x 4. So you were fine! :0)

AAPC also came out with an article that maybe you can use as a reference; AAPC Coding Edge April 2009 page 46. It is one of my favorites AAPC's articles.
