Wiki Help W/Modifier 51

If a patient has a Sono-Hysterography & hysterscopy, do I need to you modifier 51 on the Sono-Hysterography code? This is how I'm currently billing:

58558 Hysterscopy
58340-51 Sono- Hysterography
76831

Is modifier 51 correct for the Sono-Hysterography? Or should I be billing without the modifier?

If the insurance company is medicare you would not add modifier 51 Because Medicare adds the modifier. But if other insurance carriers adding modifier 51 should be ok but you can check with the other carriers to see how the want it billed.
