what Dx code would you use when a newborn umbilical cord does not fall off naturally? All assistance is greatly appreciated...Thanks
 
we use 17250- ICD9 686.1 chemical cauterization umbilical granulation... assuming that's what the provider did.

I agree with the procedure code.
One note of caution though.
Also look at dx code 771.4 depending on the age of the infant.
771.4 is used during the first 28 days.
