I work for a free standing psych facility. We were using the 90801 for all of our incoming patients. We do know that the code has changed but we also were told from CMS that the 2 new codes that replace 90801 on ONLY for place of service 11. We bill with place of service 51. Can someone please help me with what code we could use instead.

I believe if you look in the CPT book at the beginning of the psych section there is an explanation of the new codes and it states in part:
These changes include the shift from the treatment of a single disorder to the management of multiple medical co-morbidities and shifting of the site from hospital to office setting.
I am not certain this means exclusively office setting though as it also states site of service is not a criterion for code selection
you may need clarification from the AMA.

Michele is correct.
The two new codes that replaced 90801 can be bill in the office as well as the facility (facility includes 51).
