Our office does a lot of nurse visits -- generally we would bill a 99211, but in some cases we are unsure if we should be the 99211 in addition to other CPT codes or not...in particular we do a lot of protimes, PPDs, allergy shots, and injections. Do these codes already include the "nurse visit" or should we be billing the 99211 along with these codes? Can anyone help me out. Thanks!

Purpose of visit

If the purpose of the visit is to receive the injection NO E/M service should be billed ... just the administration of the injection.

I would not use the 99211 for the routine return to have the PPD checked ...
UNLESS ... if the result is positive and further evaluation is warranted, then you'll have an E/M service (9921x)
