Ok, the question has to do with nerve conduction studies.
95904 is a sensory nerve
95900 is a motor nerve
Patients always have several of each of these nerves tested during the nerve conduction studies.
So example: A patient has 5 sensory nerves tested, code 95904, how should they be coded?

From what I have learned in the past, the first one does not get a modifer but the rest of them do get a modifier, and is the modifier a 59 or 51 or 26 or something else?

Also do they have to be listed like 95904 and then 95904 (59) x4

Please Help!!!

Thanks!

We do not use modifiers when coding for nerve conduction studies. We let the insurance company know that we did more than one by changing the units. Never had a problem with payment. Hope this helps!
