I need help with a dx code for enterotomy. The physician was doing an incisional hernia repair and inadvertently entered the small bowel. We ended up doing a small bowel resection. Any help with the dx code for this would be great.

This was a complication, so that is where I start. Next, it was intraoperative, so that is my first subterm. It was an accidental puncture or laceration of the digestive system during a procedure on the digestive system. So that is K91.71. When you go check this in the tabular list, there are no additional notes or guidelines, so that should be good.
