I am not sure what diagnosis code to use with this scenario. A patient went in for a pre-employment physical and was told by those physicians that he had a hernia. He disagreed with this and was told that he would need to go to a surgeon for a second opinion. We saw the patient and found there was no hernia. He had no symptoms at all. What diagnosis code would I use for this?

You could use V71.8 Observation & Evaluation for other specified suspected conditions. It is used as 1st diagnosis only. I hope this helps.
